When I do presentations about our wines, people normally notice that I get very passionate about wine in general. During a staff training session at a restaurant I was asked “What does wine mean to you?” My spontaneous answer was “Wine is Life.”

In my opinion, there are many parallels between our lives as human beings and the evolution of a good wine. Both our existence as human beings but also the great variety of wines with the multitude of characteristics are a celebration of individualism. We all have different personalities, dreams, ambitions, and visions. If we treat each other with respect and empathy, everyone deserves the freedom to seek happiness, without judgements of right or wrong. The foundation of whom we become and how we grow is laid by our parents and our upbringing. The foundation of a great wine is formed in the vineyard. The more care, love, and attention we receive during our formative years, the better our chances are to find our purpose in life and achieve success. The same applies to vines in the vineyards.

When it comes to enjoying wine, once again it is the celebration of us as individuals. There is no one size fits all approach. Let your own palate be the compass of your decisions when it comes to selecting wines. Enjoy the variety that is out there, be curious and open-minded. Wines do not need to be analyzed to death, judged or given ratings. They simply want to be enjoyed.
